It's day 34 and I decided to treat myself to pedicure this morning. The MSM supplement that I am taking has my fingernails and toenails growing like Howard Hughes and I have grown weary of tending to them myself. I went to Hollywood Nails and for $25 and I was impressed. The Asian guy even knew how to do reflexology and he told me, "You healthy." I asked how he could tell that "I healthy" and he said I didn't have build up in my sole. I figure that's a pretty good compliment coming from a guy that deals with "build up"all day. I assume he's talking about uric acid deposits which are really common in most people.....this juice feast has melted mine down to nothing I guess. So I have pretty red toes and my healthy little soles and digits are now sandal ready....if only the weather will cooperate!Since I was already in the Asian mode, I drove over to the east side to our oriental market, Nam Hai, to see what unusual produce I could find. Upon entering this bizarre dive, one can't help but get a slight feeling of nausea from the stench of fresh, or not so fresh, fish that permeates the air. Once you've been in there for a few minutes the smell seems to dissipate a bit and it becomes easier to focus on shopping. I found some great Thai coconuts, some small light brown coconuts, thai basil, baby bok choy, a case of oranges, Chinese celery, cilantro and a few bunches of the freshest mint ever. I got some other odds and ends too and only spent $26! Nope...it's most likely not organic, but I felt like living on the edge today. I came home and immediately juiced up the baby bok choy with a few heirloom tomatoes, celery, cilantro, garlic and jalapeƱo. I added a touch of celtic sea salt and fresh cracked pepper. It was so yummy. Bok Choy has such a light and delicate flavor and it is surprisingly good to use as a base in juice.
My final tidbit of good news is that I had some communication with Cynthia Beavers today. Cynthia owns Pure Cafe which is soon to open here in Tulsa near 37th & Harvard. She has been shipping her amazing raw food creations nation wide for years now and we are so fortunate to have her here in Tulsa. Anyway..she is going to start making up some special juicy concoctions for me this month. I haven't grown completely tired of juicing yet, but I am just ready to have some new tastes and get some creative ideas. I am only 1/3 of the way through this feast so any additional support I can get will be welcome. She mentioned something like a green curry coconut juice and then the strawberry nirvana, which I've had, and it's to die for. I am eager to see what else she puts together and of course I'll share those details with you as well!
I have stopped journaling what I am drinking everyday. I would be happy to add that back in if anyone is interested, but it sort of seemed like it was getting monotonous. As I move forward, I think I'll just post any juice that turns out to be spectacular or anything that I feel is news worth or interesting.

Cynthia's food is awesome! I went to her grand opening in Dallas and everything I got to try was spectacular!

I love bok choy, but it's so expensive over here, I can't put it in juice. I can't even juice romaine very often! All the more reason to get some land and grow our own!
So this Cynthia ships nationwide? I'm thinking I may have seen her ad once (especially since there is a mention here in the posts of an opening in Dallas - and I remember that connection.) Can you post her website if she has one? I tried to order from the link I found a while back - but never received a reply.
As to bok choy - I love it! AND . . . the Swiss Chard in my garden is amazing! I'll have to take another picture and post it for you! In the meantime, check out the iris photos. Heavenly! www.rosegardenrambler.blogspot.com
One of the things I am thinking, in regards to juice feasting - is that good time for me would be August, when I start harvesting pears from my tree. I have gotten as many as 12+ grocery sacks full off pears off that tree! And the super thing is that there are fresh pears on the tree up through November.
Yesterday I planted some more fruit trees - which I have yearned for for years. I now have an Anna apple, two plum trees, two apricot trees and a "fruit cocktai" tree, which has grafted branches of plum, peach, apricot, nectarine and two other things, which I no longer remember.
The pears on my tree are great for juicing, because they are not a soft pear - they are hard like an apple.
Mary - on the way into the kitchen to make a green juice for breakfast.
